Madame Mosey’s Cabinet of Curiosities!

Role up! Role up! Welcome to a brand new and exciting exhibition part of the Unit X festival!

‘An exhibition compiled of life’s curiosities and humanity’s obsession with categorization. Collecting and archiving the banal and bizarre, authentic and fake, representation and paradoy.’
‘Artists respond to Manchester’s museums and the role they maintain within our everyday lives.’

Work includes sculpture, paint, drawing, photography and video. The exhibition is FREE and open to all!

Opening night is Monday 13th from 6pm and should be quite a spectacle with interactive art to fondle and wall to wall curiosities.
Show runs from Monday 13th – Friday 17th (so don’t miss out!)

Eurocultured – 3rd & 4th June

This June sees the return of Eurocultured Festival to New Wakefield St, Manchester. Now in its 9th year, the festival has grown to become a highlight of the summer in Manchester, showcasing live music, live art, dance, food and drink. Headliners this year include Death In Vegas, Jim Noir, Errors & Japanese Popstars

Trafford & Hulme CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year

We’re blown away to be named the Trafford & Hulme CAMRA Cider Pub of The Year. As many of you have noticed we have been selling real cider on our back bar for the last year or so and its gone down a storm.

If you’re not aware real cider is made from nothing but apples or pears (perry) & is not fizzy as most draught ciders are.

To celebrate there will be a presentation held at The Font, New Wakefield St, Manchester on April 10th at 8.30pm by members from the Trafford & Hulme branch of CAMRA. Please come and join us for a pint of real cider on the evening.

Ever wondered what the love child of Take Me Out and Blind Date would look like??? Well look no further!!! This Valentine’s Day The Font Mcr proudly presents FONT DATE 2012! (crazy original name we know). Combining the very best of these two legendary shows and hosted by our very own Kate O’Driscoll the night will guarantee a lorra lorra laughs and should not be missed!! We are currently on the hunt for outgoing boys and girls to participate in the look for love, think you’ve got what it takes? When you think of The Font Mcr what springs to mind? The massive amount of cheap cocktails? The extensive list of craft beers? The quirky art work? Or is it the eclectic music our DJs strive to bring you 6nights a week? Hopefully its all of the above, but to give the latter a little extra push we a proud to bring you two new DJs this week, just to mix it up abit!
Wednesday (30-11-2011) we have Beach Cult, these guys will bring you everything from chillwave, nu disco, future sounds to hip hop and r&b. They had their first set with us a couple of weeks back and were defiantly crowd pleasers!
Friday (02-11-2011) we bring you, the one, the only, Mr Leo Outcast! Already a well established DJ throughout Europe Leo will be gracing our decks from 9-1.

Movember

“During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men”. http://www.movember.com

To celebrate this charitable month we have created a special money raising cocktail with the incredibly imaginative name, drum roll please…..MOVEMBER-ITO!!!!
A mix of Jim Bean, fresh lime, mint, sugar syrup and soda severed long with ice our Movember-ito is an all round do gooder of a cocktail.
These beauts can be purchased at The Font Mcr all the way through November for £3, with £1 from each drink going directly to the Movember Fund.
It for a great cause so come get involved, drinking in the name of charity, doesn’t get better than that now does it!

They came, They saw, They conquered

So it has begun, Freshers week hit Manchester with a bang, and we at Font Mcr were at the excitable thick of it! Our new cocktail menu has gone down an absolute storm with our flavoured mojitos flying off the bar and our very own ‘bitch on wheels’(a jager based cocktail, not a staff member) has proved popular with anyone who fancies something abit different.

To add to our new cocktail menu we have updated our food menu and made it extra yummy, gourmet burgers are now available, including the chefs very own chicken burger creation-full of tasty flavour, and a favourite with many!
Both menus can be viewed on the bottom of the page if you fancy a gander!

We are also building an increasing craft beer range, a selection that will rival any other bar in Manchester (fancy something abit different? Our staff have a real beer passion and will be happy to recommend something new for you).
So if its cocktails, food, beer or a lovingly made tea or coffee(with the now famous complimentary freddo) Font Mcr is the place to be this Autumn.

You can feel it in the air…

Its that special time of year when a change in the winds brings an extra 50,000 extra girls and boys to the city of Manchester, some old faces and some fresh new ones! With this in mind we have been upping our game to ensure that this year is our most exciting to date. With a new and improved cocktail menu(see previous blog) and a brand spanking new food menu(blog coming very very soon) we are keeping things fresh at font Mcr!

We will be getting our nightly DJ sets back when freshers week comes round so you guys can look forward to hearing some of the most eclectic music manchester DJS have to offer on a daily basis!

So whether your already here or are planning the big move soon we look forward to seeing you all.
